Packing tape can also be referred to as parcel tape, box sealing tape, cello tape and sticky tape. These tapes are great economical way to securely close cartons for storage and distribution. Packing tape is a pressure-sensitive tape used for closing or sealing cardboard boxes and general purpose use. Most commonly used in clear 48mm widths with a 76mm core used with a tape dispensing gun. It consists of a pressure-sensitive adhesive coated onto a backing material which is usually a polypropylene, PVC or polyester film which is oriented to have strength in both the long (machine) direction and the cross direction. Polypropylene is the most common medium to be used in packing tapes as it is far more economical to produce that PVC or polyester. Clear tape that is honey coloured on the roll has a natural rubber adhesive which has superior adhesive properties opposed to a more economic hot melt acrylic adhesive which is white/clear in colour. Typically natural rubber adhesive is used when the product it is applied to is being stored in a cool room or shelved for a long period of time. Hot melt acrylic glue is suitable for general use, dispatch and general carton closing where a more economical product is required. Both adhesives are available in hand rolls to suit a dispenser gun and machine size rolls to suit taping machines. We are also able to offer custom printing on both machine and hand grade rolls of tape, we can offer up to a three colour print on polypropylene or PVC. We are able to print you company logo as well text which is a great economical way to build brand presence. Ask one of our friendly sales staff for more information.
